COMPANY DESCRIPTION

The client is a global provider of grid-scale battery energy storage systems, digital services, and optimisation software, with 6.8 GW of energy storage assets deployed and a contracted backlog of 9.1 GW across 33 markets in 25 countries as of late 2025. Their growth comes as large-scale energy storage deployments accelerate globally, driven by the integration of higher levels of renewable energy, the expansion of AI data centres, and rising expectations around grid resilience and energy security. Active in at least 17 global markets, the company has expanded into digital services for renewable energy and storage asset management, offering a fully integrated model spanning hardware, software, and long-term operational services.

THE CHALLENGE

A global utility-scale battery energy storage company underwent significant organisational restructuring that fundamentally changed how talent was procured across both Professional Services and Project Execution. The business needed to accelerate permanent hiring, reduce reliance on long-term contractors, and build a scalable workforce model — while retaining the flexibility to assess candidates before committing to permanent employment.

OUR APPROACH

Spencer Ogden partnered with the client to design and implement a globally scalable contract-to-hire programme. The model created a consistent pathway for new hires to transition into permanent roles, while giving the business time to assess technical and cultural fit before conversion. Global commercial frameworks were built with region-specific compliance and pricing structures to support deployment across multiple international markets.

THE RESULTS

  • Supported headcount increased by 10x within 12 months
  • The programme became the client's preferred global hiring model for new talent
  • Delivery expanded into Canada, Japan, Australia, Poland, Italy, and India
  • Scope broadened from field execution into engineering, commercial, finance, IT, and operations
  • Repeatable contract-to-hire framework established across six new international markets

Spencer Ogden partnered with us to design and deliver a scalable global hiring model during a period of significant transformation. Their contract-to-hire approach gave us the flexibility to assess talent while accelerating permanent hiring across multiple markets.

Their ability to implement consistent frameworks globally, while adapting to local requirements, enabled rapid growth and expansion into new regions and functions. The success of this programme has made it our preferred model for hiring, and Spencer Ogden a trusted long-term partner.
