Production Director, Malaysia

Deputy Director, Refinery (Malaysia)

We are partnering with a leading player in the renewable fuels sector to appoint a Deputy Director for a large-scale biorefinery in Malaysia. This is a key leadership role responsible for overseeing production operations within a complex continuous processing environment, supporting the delivery of sustainable fuel solutions to global markets.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead day-to-day production operations, ensuring safe, efficient, and reliable plant performance
  • Develop and execute production plans aligned with feedstock availability, customer demand, and logistics requirements
  • Monitor and drive KPI performance across production, ensuring targets for output, quality, and efficiency are achieved
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including supply chain, logistics, and commercial to ensure seamless operations
  • Build, lead, and develop a high-performing production team, including workforce planning and training
  • Implement and maintain robust process control systems and operational standards to optimise performance
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance productivity, reduce downtime, and improve cost efficiency
  • Champion health, safety, and environmental standards, acting as the primary HSSE lead within production
  • Ensure adherence to regulatory requirements and industry best practices

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline
  • 10+ years of experience in production operations within refining, petrochemical, or chemical processing environments
  • Minimum 5 years in a leadership or managerial role within a continuous process facility
  • Strong operational experience in refinery or chemical plants; exposure to hydrotreating or similar processes is advantageous
  • Proven ability to manage production planning, scheduling, and performance optimisation
  • Strong leadership and team management capabilities, with experience building and developing teams
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with a hands-on approach to operational challenges
  • Strong understanding of HSSE principles and commitment to maintaining a safe working environment
